The SmartCan Digital Conversion System enables existing analog scales to be upgraded into advanced digital weighing systems without requiring full replacement. By converting analog load cell signals into digital data using CAN-based communication, it provides real-time diagnostics, improved calibration, and remote monitoring capabilities. This system enhances reliability, reduces downtime, and simplifies troubleshooting by allowing operators to monitor individual load cells. Its compact, rugged design makes it suitable for a wide range of industrial applications, including truck, floor, bench, and batching scale systems.
The SmartCan Analog-to-Digital Conversion System transforms existing analog load cell scales into intelligent digital weighing systems without requiring a complete scale replacement. Designed for truck scales, railroad scales, floor scales, bench scales, batching systems, and other industrial weighing applications, SmartCan delivers advanced diagnostics, digital calibration capabilities, and cloud-based monitoring while preserving existing load cells and scale infrastructure.
Using the internationally recognized CAN (Controller Area Network) communication platform, SmartCan converts analog load cell signals into digital data that can be monitored, analyzed, and transmitted throughout the weighing system. This technology allows operators to view and troubleshoot individual load cell performance in real time, making it easier to identify issues, improve maintenance efficiency, and reduce costly downtime.
SmartCan is particularly valuable for scale modernization projects, enabling existing analog scales to gain many of the advantages traditionally associated with digital load cell systems. The system supports advanced SmartCal® digital calibration technology, which streamlines calibration procedures and eliminates many manual adjustment processes. SmartCan also supports remote diagnostics and monitoring through iSite® cloud-based software, allowing authorized service providers to receive e-mail and text alerts and proactively address potential issues before they affect operations.
Housed in a rugged IP66 / NEMA 4 enclosure, SmartCan is engineered to withstand demanding industrial environments while requiring minimal installation space. Multiple SmartCan units can be connected together to support systems with up to 32 load cells, providing flexibility for applications ranging from small platform scales to large truck and railroad scale installations. The system also supports Guardian® hydraulic load cells, further expanding its application versatility.
Built-in diagnostics provide real-time visibility into load cell performance, including live load cell weights, minimum and maximum readings, deadload shifts, individual load cell signals, communication status, and system health information. Compatible digital indicators display this information directly to operators and service technicians, simplifying troubleshooting and improving operational confidence.
